Now it is one thing to learn how to become a famous singer like Beyonce and then it’s a whole other thing to then become a movie director. But not for Beyonce Knowles.
Now she’s not just directing a movie about any old random thing. Beyonce is directing and staring in a documentary that she knows more about than anything else. Can you guess what it is?
Is it about singing?
Yes… to a degree.
Is it about becoming a famous singer?
Yes… to a degree.
Well according to Crystal Bell at the Huffington Post she’s directing and staring in a film about her life and career.
Beyonce Knowles may soon have something in common with Errol Morris and Michael Moore. The world-class singer (and infrequent actress) is looking to become a documentary filmmaker.
In recent weeks, Knowles has reportedly been shopping a documentary film to several Hollywood studios about her busy life and career, reports The Los Angeles Times. In addition to starring in the nonfiction film, Beyonce will also produce and direct.
Beyonce – becoming a famous singer and living your life
The documentary will combine concert footage with a behind-the-scenes look into Beyonce’s life as a superstar, business mogul and mother. To that end, the superstar should have no problem when it comes to finding things to talk about.
As the Times notes, the “Single Ladies” singer has been going non-stop over the last year, with life events ranging from a new album release to the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Beyonce made her post-baby debut at the new Revel casino and resort in New Jersey in May.
So getting an insiders glimpse of the life of being an international singing sensation and the life you lead can be a useful way to take some notes and read between the lines. When you direct your own movie about yourself, I guess you have full control of what it is you want to portray and share. But I for one think it’s an excellent way to take note of some of the subtleties she will display.
Now in 2010 MTV made a mini-documentary about the star called: Beyonce – Year of 4 which showed the busy artist returning to the studio to record her new album.
Here’s a short clip:

The LATimes also says about this new up and coming documentary:
According to a person familiar with the package who was not authorized to talk about it publicly, the movie is as a mix of music and personal study, blending concert footage with confessional interview. Knowles not only stars in the project but is directing it, and will also serve as a producer. About 20 minutes of footage has been shown to distributors.
Feature documentaries about musical superstars have come into vogue of late with movies from Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. Though not always blockbusters (Perry’s “Part of Me” has grossed just $24 million since coming out last month), they continue to be appealing to the entertainment industry: The stars like the exposure in a new medium, while studios appreciate the movies’ built-in appeal and comparatively low cost.
Now the question could be is this part of this new wave that is expanding in the music and entertainment industry that we mention in our article about Taylor Swift and the profits made by using a dynamic branding strategy. Read more on this here.
Observing and being open minded gives you immense opportunities to watch the game of fame at play. You could tell yourself but these guys are out of my league, but then you could say to yourself – what can I learn and use from what I see here.
There is always something to learn from those that are the most successful, and when you have an open mind you will soon recognise ways of how you can adopt the same practices for yourself in your won way.
So becoming a famous singer like Beyonce does not have to take the shape of being just like Beyonce, but more like a degree of Beyonce-ness that can accentuate more of who you are.
I think this documentary will be a must to watch and learn from – get your note books ready, all you single ladies… all you single guys… well lets not limit it and even include couples…
