The voice coaches and mentors will.i.am and Adam Levinebattle it out in the charts. Will.i.am is a coach and mentor on The Voice UK and Adam Levine is on NBC The Voice USA. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of competitiveness, but these guys are not even on the same show at the same time trying to win.
Maroon 5 with Adam Levine have now regained pole position in the singles charts following being knocked off by will.i.am a week ago and now they are back on top.
An amusing battle of The Voice coaches.
Press Association reports that:
The Voice Coaches and Mentors will.i.am and Adam Levine chart battle
The American band first snatched the number one position from Cheryl Cole with new single Payphone two weeks ago but was pipped to the post last week by the American rapper’s track This Is Love, featuring Eva Simons.
The US rockers were locked in an incredibly close three-way battle with Will.i.am and Chris Brown’s Don’t Wake Me Up but emerged victorious with a lead of 3,000 copies to deny Chris Brown the Official Charts double.Meanwhile, Will.i.am’s single has slipped to number three, while Cheryl Cole’s Call My Name dropped from number five to 10, according to the Official UK Charts Company.
It really is interesting and amusing stuff. All the artists produce quality music. But how much do shows like The Voice help propel a singers career.
When Cheryl Cole was a firm feature in the UK version of X-Factor her solo career took off.
Do these reality talent contests help the public connect with the stars as real people, connect with them on a more emotional level, so that they ‘feel’ that they know them better.
I must admit, I was never into Cheryl Cole except for the fact that she is strikingly beautiful. But to see her voicing her views on X-Factor, see her shout Simon Cowell down and to see how emotionally connected as a voice coach she was to her contestants did pull at the heart strings.
I for one found an appreciation of the hard work she puts into her performances, and taking an interest in her music. So has the same happened for Adam Levine and Maroon 5 as he is now an admired coach and mentor on the US version of The Voice?
He has impressed me, and I now take more notice of his music. And with will.i.am on the UK show did have an entertaining flare.
So do these talent shows levitate their careers? I guess it can’t help but give it a positive impact. And to see these 3 bounce around at the top of the charts, as though they are all at battle on The Voice just puts a smile on my face.
The Voice coaches and mentors will.i.am and Adam Levine are to be seen again on TV in their coaching roles. Lets hope we can see a bit more of Cheryl too.
