Changes are on the horizon for American Idol season 13. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are deserting their American Idol judges 2013 seats in a bid to get back to their careers, but is that the real story many people are asking?
As Aerosmith are getting ready to work on a new album and tour you can see that Steven Tyler’s time is going to be in demand and with JLO’s career hotting up you could say that her time is in demand too.
When you step back you can easily acknowledge that judges on these Reality Competition shows enjoy a lucrative side effect that their careers get a massive boost and their own music becomes in high demand. So it may be a tongue in cheek note to self to say, “when I become a famous singer, I must become a judge on American Idol, the X-factor and The Voice! Let’s give my career a major turbo boost!”.
American Idol Judges 2013 – not for me says John Bon Jovi
Jon Bon Jovi‘s ass will not be sliding into Jennifer Lopez‘s old seat at the judge’s table on the next season of “American Idol” … this according to sources extremely close to the singer.

Lopez threw Bon Jovi’s name into the mix during her farewell media blitz this week … telling ABC News she’d like to see someone like Jon … or Mick Jagger or Bono take over her spot.
But one Bon Jovi source, who is definitely in a position to know, tells TMZ … “With all systems go for a new album and a mega-tour on the horizon, Jon wouldn’t be able to give those aspiring singers the guidance they deserve.”
The source adds, “Jon wouldn’t commit to anything unless he can give 100%. With planning for the next album already underway, he’s focused on the band.
“
This is not the only kick for the show, as the 2012 Emmy Award nominations roll in the American Idol juggernaut was not nominated for the category “Outstanding Reality Competition Program” for the first time in a long time. According to David T Farr :
Critics are quick to say the show has seen its day, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel. The debate is on about who should fill their seats.
Ratings aren’t what they once were, but the show is still pulling in about 20 million viewers. The problem is that the show’s demographics have tilted, appealing to younger viewers. That can spell trouble with advertisers.
A clean slate is always good, in this case, new judges. But why not a whole revamp of the show? Perhaps Randy Jackson’s dawg days are over. I’m thinking he should go, too. It’s time, don’t you think?

So has American Idol been shot down in it’s blaze of glory, are the judges abandoning ship because they can see a decline coming or is it that there is a need for new American Idol judges for 2013?
With The Voice and the X-Factor showing other options who knows. If the show now appeals to a younger demographic perhaps pressures will come from advertisers. But I must admit if you want to become a famous singer with a catapulted career being a judge on the show is a no-brainer!
