Before her performance Lucy was in tears speaking about the family bereavement.
My week’s been not great.
Lucy’s grandmother had passed away on Monday (October 8).
My nanny died on Monday. My granddad said on the phone that when she was really ill they watched me – the last time she properly smiled is when she saw me on the screen.
I don’t want people to feel sorry for me… I want them to judge me on my performance and not what’s happened.
I just wanted people to have a dance and be happy, because I want to be happy too.
It’s a great sentiment at such a challenging time. ‘The show must go on’ as they say. Lucy sings a cover song in her own unique way.

Everyone deals with grief in their own way and Lucy’s decision to be upbeat is quite an inspiring sentiment of wanting people to smile rather than being sad.
There is a saying that goes, “When you want something different in your life, give what you lack.”
When we lose someone dear to us smiling is definitely something we naturally lack, and to see Lucy performing with the desire to give what she lacks is a lesson in living life in itself.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with you and your family, Lucy, at this challenging time.
